Competitive Dance
Competitive dance is not like most organized sports where there is a “bench”, back-up players, and a nine week season. Dance is 100% a team sport. This is your team. All of the athletes on the team rely on you, and you on them. If you are not there to do your part, it will not get done. It is twelve months of commitment. It is hard work, but also very rewarding.
The Commitment
The commitment begins in May. Each team practices one day a week. The times vary based on which team the athlete is on. Coaches strongly encourage each athlete to participate in a tumbling class. Along with practice times, the dancers compete in multiple competitions throuhout the year. The competition dates vary, but on average an athlete can expect 4-5 competitions from January to March. It is mandatory for athletes to be at all practices and competitions. Competitions are typically on Saturdays and/or Sundays. To help with travel time, the majority of the competitions are in the state of Ohio.
