Cheerleading

Cheer 101: (60 mins) This class is for anyone new to cheerleading.  The basic skills learned are:

Uneven Bars – casting, pullovers w/spot, back hip circles w/spot, glide swings.

Beam – walking forward/backward/sideways on beam, pivot turns, scales, grapevine...basically getting comfortable on the beam.

Floor – handstands, cartwheels, forward/backward rolls, back walkovers over the barrel.

Vault – learn the proper way to run and hurdle onto the spring board to vault and do a straight jump or diving forward roll.

 

Terminology – straight, hollow, pike, tight.

 

Cheer tryout class: (60 mins) This class is beginners gymnastics for three to five year olds who are learning to follow directions and interact in a learning environment.

 

Beginner Combo: (60 mins)  This class is half gymnastics, half dance.

 

Intermediate Gymnastics: (60 mins) This class is for the gymnast who has mastered all of the beginners skills, and will learn:

Bars – beginners skills without spot, re-grasping, leg cuts, front mill circles, dismounts.

Beam – handstands, cartwheels and roundoffs.

Floor – bridge kickovers off wedge, front walkovers over barrel, handstands on the floor without wedge, roundoffs, backhandsprings.

Vault – emphasis on a strong run, tight body and falling flat back from the fronthandspring.

 

Advanced Gymnastics: (90 mins) This class is for the gymnast who has mastered all of the intermediate skills, and will learn:

Bars – advancing skills specific to the gymnast’s ability.

Beam – work on individual beam routine specific to the gymnast’s ability.

Floor – roundoff-backhandsprings, standing backhandsprings, front and back tucks on the trampoline.

Vault – fronthandsprings over the vault.

 

Mommy & Me: (45 mins) This class is for parents, grandparents, ANYONE interested in a little one-on-one time with their little one ages 18 months to 3 years old. Kids go through an obstacle course and learn their first forward/backward rolls down a cheese mat, headstands, climbing ladders, jumping on trampolines, going down slides, walking beams, hanging from bars, with the parent right there on the floor by their side.
